Agent of Sunderland star Giaccherini denies Inter Milan link

The agent of Emanuele Giaccherini has rubbished reports that the Italian international could be set to swap Sunderland for Inter Milan in the January transfer window, and insisted the 28-year-old’s priority remains to play in next summer’s World Cup, according to the Sunderland Echo.
Giaccherini arrived at the Stadium of Light from reigning Italian champions Juventus in the summer, and has enjoyed an impressive start to the new chapter of his career. Reports surfaced suggesting that Inter could be set to offer him a route back to Serie A, though the club – and now the player’s camp themselves – have denied the reports.
Agent Giulio Marinelli, speaking to Italian media, said: “These are just baseless rumours. Emanuele is happy in England, he has settled well both in the team and in the English way of life.
“The Premier League is a beautiful competition, perhaps the best in Europe. The stadiums are great and the quality of life is exceptional. The only drawback at this time is the team’s performance but the squad is good and I am convinced that they will climb up the table.
“His personal goal is still to go to the World Cup.”
Giaccherini was signed by former Sunderland manager Paolo di Canio during his turbulent reign, but has continued to feature in new coach Gus Poyet’s side – and indeed the Uruguayan has said that the former Juve star has a key role to play in the Black Cats’ relegation scrap.
