Everton vs Fulham - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Friday 13 December 2013

On Saturday, Rene Meulensteen will be aiming to achieve something that no Fulham manager has done before - take a Premier League point away from Goodison Park.

The Dutchman and his team come up against an Everton side in sensational form, having lost just once in the league all season. Throughout the campaign, they have proved that they are able to mix it with the very best that the Premier League has to offer, and the Toffees more than matched leaders Arsenal for long periods last time out, where youngster Gerard Deulofeu showed another glimpse of his potential.

Fulham delivered their best performance of the season as they comfortably defeated Aston Villa. Dimitar Berbatov looked interested again, and was classy over the whole 90 minutes, and the whole team put in a shift and was a real threat going forward, something which was sadly lacking in the final months under Martin Jol. Here, they are up against history, as they have lost each of their 12 Premier League games at Everton.

Roberto Martinez will still be without injured trio Leighton Baines, Darron Gibson and Arouna Kone, while James McCarthy serves a one-match ban after picking up five yellow cards.

The visitors are waiting on the fitness of Matthew Briggs and Kieran Richardson, but Brede Hangeland and Hugo Rodallega are both ruled out.
