On-loan Everton star Gerard Deulofeu has been ruled out of action until the new year with a hamstring injury, reports Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old pulled up with the injury during the Toffee’s 4-1 win over Fulham on Saturday, and boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed that the injury will keep him out until January.

The news means Deulofeu, who is on loan from Spanish giants Barcelona, will miss the trip to Swansea and the home clashes with Sunderland and Southampton at least. He could also miss the New Year’s Day game against Stoke and the FA Cup encounter with former Premier League outfit QPR, but the Spanish U-21 international should be just about ready to return for selection for the league game against Norwich a week later.

Deulofeu has been in impressive form for his temporary club this season, scoring twice in 12 games and providing an exciting spark in the Blues’ front line, linking up well with fellow loanee Romelu Lukaku.
