Seattle Sounders star Dempsey wanted by former club Fulham
Fulham could be set to re-sign former star Clint Dempsey on a two month loan in January, reports The Independent.
The American midfielder, who spent five years at Craven Cottage following his £2m arrival in early 2007, has been playing in the MLS with Seattle Sounders following a £6m move from Tottenham in the summer, but could follow the example of the likes of Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and David Beckham by moving on a short-term basis back to Europe.
Fulham face competition from Stoke and West Ham for Dempsey, but remain quietly confident that the American international will return to the club and help bolster their ailing campaign.
Dempsey made 184 appearances during his initial stint at Fulham, scoring 50 goals in the process before securing a £6m move to north London with Spurs in 2012. He spent a season at White Hart Lane before returning to the MLS – where he began his career with New England Revolution prior to moving to London – when Sounders made an offer that meant Spurs got their investment back.
