Leicester vs Man City - Match preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Tuesday 17 December 2013

The Capital One Cup’s only remaining Championship side will be attempting to cause a major shock on Tuesday by beating Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

Manuel Pellegrini

The Foxes, who have already knocked out one Premier League team in Fulham, look well equipped to cause Manuel Pellegrini’s side a few problems. Firstly, their home record is among the best in the Championship, with only Nottingham Forest having taken all three points from the King Power Stadium this season. They lie third in the division, though they have failed to win their previous three games.

Pellegrini is expected to make several changes here with the Premier League’s busy festive period in mind. However, whichever side he fields will be a strong one, and confidence should be high throughout the squad after two superb results against European champions Bayern Munich, and Premier League leaders Arsenal, a win which saw them move to within three points of the Gunners.

Leicester will be without defender Sean St. Ledger, and strikers Tom Hopper and Chris Wood, but Jamie Vardy should be fit enough to play.

Stevan Jovetic could return for Man City, who will be without top scorer Sergio Aguero for a month. Matija Nastasic is also sidelined.
