Tottenham vs West Ham - Match preview and team news
Wednesday 18 December 2013
Tottenham begin life after the sacking of manager Andre Villas-Boas with a Capital One Cup quarter-final against London rivals West Ham United.
Tim Sherwood takes temporary charge of a team which has struggled to find its best form all season, and chairman Daniel Levy was forced to act after Liverpool played Tottenham off the park at White Hart Lane on Sunday. That result came just weeks after a 6-0 defeat by Manchester City, but they are still well positioned to fight for silverware this season.
West Ham came through a challenging tie at Championship high-flyers Burnley in the last round, and have already won at Tottenham in the Premier League this season. Despite that, they are struggling for goals and struggling for wins, and Sam Allardyce’s side were booed off following their performance in the draw with Sunderland, which left them just a point ahead of the bottom three ahead of games against Manchester United and Arsenal.
Tottenham will be without captain Michael Dawson and midfielder Paulinho due to suspension, while Sandro is absent with a calf problem.
James Tomkins is a doubt for the Hammers, who are without Kevin Nolan, Stewart Downing, Ricardo Vaz Te, Andy Carroll, Winston Reid and Mladen Petric.
