West Brom vs Hull - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Friday 20 December 2013

Managerless West Bromwich Albion will be desperate to end their four game losing streak with a victory over Hull City on Saturday.

The decision by Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace to sack Head Coach Steve Clarke came as a surprise to many, despite the club’s poor run, as the Scot had led the club to their highest ever Premier League finish last season. Their form throughout 2013 has been disappointing though, and three points is essential for caretaker boss Keith Downing, for they could find themselves in the bottom three should other results not go their way.

Hull manager Steve Bruce looks more secure in his position than many of his Premier League candidates, guiding his newly-promoted team to a respectable 12th place after 16 games. Much of their success this season has been built on a very solid defence and an impressive work rate, and it was somewhat unsurprising to see their fixture with Stoke City end goalless.

For West Brom, goalkeeper Ben Foster, who has been out since August, comes back into contention although he is unlikely to be risked.

The Tigers will be without Sone Aluko until the New Year, while Stephen Quinn is also absent because of a hamstring injury, but should be back later in the festive period.
