Man United target Galatasary star Sneijder
Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder is believed to be prepared to take a huge £1m-per-year pay cut and move to Premier League champions Man United, according to The Mirror.
Sneijder moved to Turkey from Inter Milan in January of this year, but had been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford prior to his transfer – but then-Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson did not do the deal, while new boss David Moyes is keen on finally signing the Dutch international.
The 29-year-old has been frustrated in recent months at Galatasaray, and is worried about his place in the Netherlands team at next summer’s World Cup in Brazil. He is keen to ensure that a £10m transfer to the Premier League goes ahead, and could take advantage of Man United’s mediocre season by using their position as a bargaining tool for more regular starting opportunities than he is currently enjoying on the continent.
Sneijder began his career at Ajax before moving to Real Madrid in 2007. He spent two years at the Bernabeu before Inter Milan snapped him up for around €15m in August 2009.
He enjoyed four successful years at the San Siro before moving to Galatasaray in January.
