Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has admitted that the injury problems experienced by forward Miguel Michu are becoming a growing concern, and the Spaniard may be forced to undergo surgery, writes Sky Sports.

Michu has missed six games this season because of ankle and knee problems, and although he has started Swansea’s last two Premier League games against Hull City and Norwich City, the injury remains a concern for Laudrup, who has also seen Michu’s fellow forwards Wilfried Bony and Alvaro Vazquez, spend time on the sidelines.

The Dane said: "He will need an operation at some stage. In the best case, it could be when he finishes his career. It could be at the end of the season, but it could be now.

He has been struggling with his ankle as well as his knee. The professional he is, he wanted to play but in a lot of games he could not give 100 per cent.

"I said to him not to worry and just carry on but he wants to score goals and help the team. In the league he has not had the physical presence to do that and he has been worried about that.’

The Spaniard joined Swansea from La Liga side Rayo Vallecano in the summer of 2012 and was their top scorer last season with an impressive 22 goals in league and cup. In this injury-disrupted campaign, he has so far added six more to that tally.
