Fulham vs Man City - Premier League best and worst

Bookmark and Share

By Stephen Donovan

Saturday 21 December 2013

Fulham and Manchester City meet on Saturday in the Premier League for a game which has seen a fair few memorable moments in recent years:

Sergio Aguero

Last Meeting

Coming into this game in September 2012, Fulham had been on a fine run at home in the Premier League, but Man City came from behind to take all three points from Craven Cottage. Mladen Petric gave the battling hosts the lead from the penalty spot in the first half, but Sergio Aguero equalised with a low shot just before half time, and substitute Edin Dzeko won it late on with an emphatic finish.

Most Emphatic Victory

Man City dominated from start to finish when they visited West London in November 2010, running out easy 4-1 winners. At the time, Fulham were struggling under Mark Hughes, and they found themselves three goals down at half time due to goals from Carlos Tevez, Pablo Zabaleta and Yaya Toure. Tevez added a fourth in the second half, while Zoltan Gera netted Fulham’s consolation.

Best Game

The two sides delivered a fantastic game back in September 2007, Fulham battled hard to grab a point from a 3-3 draw. They took the lead in the first half with a goal by Simon Davies, and Hameur Bouazza put them 2-1 up early in the second half after Martin Petrov’s equaliser. Man City appeared to heading for victory when Emile Mpenza and Petrov put them 3-2 up, but Danny Murphy ensured the game ended all square with a 75th minute strike.

Best Comeback

Top of the table and looking unstoppable, Man City arrived at Craven Cottage in September 2011 very high on confidence. That soon showed as Sergio Aguero put them two goals ahead early in the second half. Martin Jol’s Fulham, however, did not lie down and goals from Bobby Zamora and Danny Murphy saw them salvage an unlikely point.
