Chelsea striker Ba dismisses Arsenal link
Chelsea striker Demba Ba has rejected speculation that he may move to title rivals Arsenal next summer, and insisted that he would like to fight for a first-team place at Stamford Bridge, writes Sky Sports.
Throughout the season, Ba has often found himself behind the likes of Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o in the Chelsea pecking order. Overall, he has managed to score just nine goals in his 36 appearances since arriving at the club from Newcastle United back in January.
Arsenal - who Chelsea face in the Premier League on Monday - are thought to be searching for a new striker with Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner their only senior attacking options currently available to their manager Arsene Wenger.
Ba has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium since the summer, and in response to the speculation, the Senegalese international told the Sun on Sunday: "People talk a lot about me joining Arsenal. But there has never been an approach from them. There is nothing going on in this regard. Things are OK for me at the moment.’
"It's working, as the situation is turning around for me here bit by bit. I am getting more time on the pitch as a result of the injuries to our strikers Samuel Eto'o and Fernando Torres.
"You just need a bit of time to adapt when you change clubs. I've been in a process of adaptation while moving between West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea. But as soon as I'm given the chance to prove myself, I take it so the fact that I've often been on the substitute's bench is nothing serious."
