Hull vs Man Utd - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Thursday 26 December 2013

Manchester United will be looking for their fifth straight win in all competitions when they travel to Hull City on Boxing Day.

Hull were left frustrated at their failure to hang on to their lead to West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, conceding an equaliser four minutes from time. That goal prevented the Tigers from moving into the top half of the Premier League and establishing a healthy nine point cushion above the relegation zone ahead of three games against title contenders in their next four fixtures.

Although Man Utd’s recent form has been hugely encouraging both offensively and defensively, they will find it difficult to score at the KC Stadium, where Hull’s record at the back is very strong. The win against West Ham United on Saturday was nonetheless encouraging, and manager David Moyes looks to have found a winning formula after several weeks where clear cut chances were few and far between.

Sone Aluko is out for Hull with an Achilles injury, while Stephen Quinn and Robbie Brady are both major doubts.

Man Utd are still without injured trio Michael Carrick, Nani and Robin van Persie. Marouane Fellaini is set to miss several weeks, but Danny Welback should recover from a minor knee injury in time to play.
