Man City vs Liverpool - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Thursday 26 December 2013

Arguably the two most entertaining teams to watch in the Premier League this season meet in Boxing Day’s late kick-off, as Manchester City face leaders Liverpool.

Man City return to the Etihad Stadium - where they have been unbeatable in the league this season - after a hard-earned victory at lowly Fulham on Saturday, as they held off the home side’s comeback to claim their third away victory of the campaign. For the second home game in a row, the leaders are the visitors, but after putting six past Arsenal, they will surely fancy their chances of taking the Reds apart.

This will probably be the toughest game that Brendan Rodger’s side will face all season, and with Chelsea away to come next, this spell will be a test of their title credentials after four seasons of failing to qualify for the Champions League. However, they will fancy their chances after some devastating performances of late, most notably from the Premier League’s in-form player, Luis Suarez.

Unfortunately for Man City, they are without their star striker, Sergio Aguero, who still has a calf injury. Pablo Zabaleta and Micah Richards are also missing.

Liverpool are still without Daniel Sturridge, Jose Enrique and captain Steven Gerrard, who will all be out for a few more weeks.
