West Ham vs West Brom - Premier League preview and team news
Saturday 28 December 2013
Lowly West Ham United meet fellow strugglers West Bromwich Albion in crucial Premier League encounter at Upton Park.
West Ham were largely outplayed by Arsenal on Boxing Day, but had a couple of fine opportunities to win it. As it was, they lost 3-1, and their misery was compounded by all of the bottom three winning away from home, leaving them in a desperate position, second from bottom. Frustration is growing in East London, and this is simply a must-win game for the Hammers.
A battling display and a 1-1 draw would normally be a great result for West Brom, but as Crystal Palace, Fulham and Sunderland all won, they left White Hart Lane nervously looking over their shoulders with just a point separating them from the bottom three. This game is equally important for Albion as it is for West Ham, for they have now gone eight league games without a win.
Ravel Morrison and James Collins are both doubtful for injury ravaged West Ham, who are definitely without Andy Carroll, Winston Reid, Ricardo Vaz Te and Stewart Downing.
Matej Vydra could continue in attack for the visitors with Victor Anichebe still recovering from a groin injury.
