Man City vs Crystal Palace - Premier League preview and team news

Manchester City can go top of the Premier League - at least temporarily - with victory over rejuvenated Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Manuel Pellegrini’s team came through their toughest home game yet on Boxing Day to make it nine wins from nine at the Etihad Stadium. Liverpool arrived and more than matched their hosts, but Man City came through the test to make it six wins from their last seven Premier League outings, leaving them second going into this game, which comes before three successive away matches.

Crystal Palace showed no ill effects from the comprehensive defeat to Newcastle United as they won superbly at Aston Villa through Dwight Gayle’s excellent late drive. That result carried the Eagles out of the relegation zone at West Ham United’s expense, and has led some to believe that Tony Pulis can guide the club to safety when all seemed lost after Ian Holloway departed.

Sergio Aguero, Stevan Jovetic and Micah Richards are all out for Manchester City, who also have doubts over the fitness of Martin Demichelis.

Kagisho Dikgacoi and Stuart O’Keefe could return after injury for Crystal Palace, but they are still without Jack Hunt, Glenn Murray, Jerome Thomas, Adlene Guedioura and Patrick McCarthy.
