Attacking midfielder Lewis Holtby has said that he is looking to start more games for Tottenham under the club’s new Head Coach Tim Sherwood, writes Sky Sports.

Since Sherwood took over from Andre Villas-Boas, Holtby has made one start and one substitute appearance, and has generally been in and out of the team throughout the season with Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Erik Lamela among the players who are also vying for a place in the starting XI.

Holtby joined Tottenham from Schalke in January, signing a five year contract, but the German international hopes for a larger role at White Hart Lane, and has not ruled out a return to the Bundesliga. He said: "I would never rule out a move back to the Bundesliga.

"I was having a great time at Schalke, even if things looked different in that final phase of my stay there. In football things can happen very fast. At this point in time it's a real up and down for me in sporting affairs.

"There is a big competition for a first-team spot and, although I have had rather rare appearances, I have gained nine assists and three goals thus far this term. This is a good quota! I definitely want to be more involved in the starting XI!"
