Man City boss Pellegrini rules out Dzeko sale

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that striker Edin Dzeko will remain at the club beyond the January transfer window, ESPN has reported.

The 60-year-old Chilean also revealed that he does not intend to do any business in January, following a summer in which Man City were among the highest spenders, bringing in Fernandinho, Alvaro Negredo, Stevan Jovetic, Martin Demichelis and Jesus Navas.

Despite beginning the season as first-choice, Dzeko has once again been mainly used as a substitute, due to the fruitful strike partnership which has been formed between Negredo and Sergio Aguero. With Aguero currently out injured, the Bosnian was able to start Man City’s previous Premier League match and score the winning goal, but rumours about his future have persisted.

When asked about the possibility of Dzeko leaving in the New Year, Pellegrini said: "At this moment nobody will be leaving. There was never any chance of Dzeko going in January. He is a very important member of the squad.

‘Edin is not playing as often as he wants because of Aguero and Negredo, and because we have bad luck at the moment and [Stevan] Jovetic is also injured, we only have two strikers for all the games, so we must split them.

"Every player wants to play every game but given the games we have it is impossible for that to happen. I repeat that I think he is happy. He is an important player and there may be offers but he won't leave."
