Villa set for £1.5m raid on Norwich for Hoolahan
Aston Villa could be set to make a move for Norwich midfielder Wes Hoolahan in a surprise £1.5m move, according to The Mirror.
Villans boss Paul Lambert could be set to raid his former club for the midfielder, who has fallen down the pecking order at Carrow Road. Norwich incumbent Chris Hughton has not provided Hoolahan with a guaranteed first 11 spot, though he has started both of the Canaries’ last two games.
The approach is thought to be a deadly serious one from Lambert, who wants to add some youth to his Aston Villa side who, will sitting higher in the league than at this time last season, have been criticised for their style and quality of football at times this season.
He was not selected for Norwich’s FA Cup clash with Fulham, and it had been reported before the game that he may not feature due to Villa’s interest – though whether this is the reason for his exclusion has not been confirmed.
Hoolahan joined Norwich from Blackpool in 2008, and has made approaching 200 appearances for the Norfolk outfit, though if Villa’s bid is as serious as The Mirror seems to believe, he may have pulled on the famous yellow and green shirt for the final time before embarking on a new chapter in his career wearing claret and blue.
