Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has told of his delight at his own form this season, despite the inconsistencies of the team as a whole, Sky Sports has reported.

De Gea, now in his third season at Old Trafford since his move from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has been one of Man Utd’s standout performers in what has been a disappointing season so far on the whole, with the Red Devils lying seventh in the Premier League and 11 points behind leaders Arsenal in their title defence.

And the Spaniard has declared himself pleased with his efforts this season. He said: "I am pleased with my contribution so far. I feel very settled here and I am happy with the way I am playing. I am still learning and improving all the time. That is important. I hope to carry on doing that and keep my spot in the team."

A six match winning run in all competitions came to an end with a New Year’s Day defeat to Tottenham, and De Gea added: "We have picked up plenty of momentum as the season has developed. It was a real shame we couldn't get three points against Tottenham but we are playing well now. We need to keep performing and win as many games as we possibly can."
