Man Utd vs Swansea - Match preview and team news

Sunday 05 January 2014

Manchester United and Swansea City meet in the FA Cup on Sunday, just days before they meet at Old Trafford again in the Premier League.

A run of six consecutive wins seemed to be almost instantly forgotten for Manchester United after they lost at home in the Premier League for the fourth time already this season; Tottenham the latest side to come away with all three points. It was the type of performance which led to questions being asked in December, as creativity was almost completely lacking for the FA Cup’s most successful side.

Even in defeat, there were plenty of positives for Swansea boss Michael Laudrup to take against Manchester City on New Year’s Day. Striker Wilfried Bony was on top form, and there was lots of wonderfully inventive football played as they caused the Premier League title favourites several problems. Losing, however, meant that Swansea slipped to 13th in the table.

Wayne Rooney has a groin injury and once again joins Man Utd teammate Robin van Persie on the sidelines. Ashley Young is also absent, with a shoulder problem.

Miguel Michu, Nathan Dyer and goalkeeper Michel Vorm are all out for Swansea, while Leon Britton and Pablo Hernandez are both major doubts.
