Arsenal are waiting to hear the extent of Theo Walcott’s knee injury amid fears the England winger could be ruled out of action for a month, the Guardian has reported. Walcott suffered the injury in Arsenal’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Manager Arsene Wenger has further concerns over the fitness of Thomas Vermaelen and Mikel Arteta following the north London derby victory, with Vermaelen suffering suspected knee ligament damage and Arteta taking a blow to the calf. The newspaper adds both players will be assessed on Monday.

Walcott will also undergo a scan on Monday but it is already thought he has injured his knee ligaments, having to be stretchered off in the 81st minute against Spurs. Walcott is unlikely to face disciplinary action from the Football Association after making a 2-0 gesture to the away supporters as he was carried from the pitch, but the behaviour of the Tottenham section of the crowd is to be looked into after coins and other projectiles were aimed at Walcott.

Goals from Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky gave the Gunners victory, setting up a Fourth Round meeting with League One side Coventry City. The FA Cup was the last trophy Wenger claimed, beating Manchester United on penalties in 2005.
