Moyes admits Man Utd need new faces in transfer window
Manchester United manager David Moyes has admitted his side needs new signings in this month’s transfer window, ESPN has reported, but Moyes could not guarantee new signings will be made.
Moyes watched on as United were beaten at home by Swansea City in the FA Cup on Sunday, going down to a late Wilfried Bony header after Fabio da Silva was sent off. It was United’s fifth defeat at Old Trafford so far this season, having also lost to West Bromwich Albion, Everton, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
But Moyes warned that the difficulties of manoeuvring in the winter transfer window meant it was not certain the Premier League champions would be able to land their chosen targets. “There is an urgency that we would like to bring people in but are those players available in January?,” Moyes said.
“So there is no point in me hyping it up because the players we would like to bring in are probably not available, not because we don't want to do it.”
United are back in cup action in midweek in the first-leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final against Sunderland, with the game taking place at the Black Cats’ Stadium of Light. United beat Sunderland 2-1 away from home in October.
