Cardiff favourites to sign Man Utd winger Zaha

Monday 06 January 2014

New Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to turn to his former club, Premier League champions Manchester United, and sign winger Wilfried Zaha on loan, ESPN has reported.

Wilfried Zaha

Zaha completed a £15m move to United from Crystal Palace in the summer, having originally moved to Old Trafford in January 2013 only to be loaned back to the Eagles for the reminder of last season. Palace boss Tony Pulis has suggested he wanted to bring Zaha back to Selhurst Park and Newcastle are also thought to have registered their interest, but Solskjaer is said to be the favourite to land the England international.

Solskjaer took charge of his first Cardiff game over the weekend, engineering a 2-1 FA Cup win away at Newcastle, through goals from Craig Noone and Frazier Campbell after Papiss Cisse had put the Magpies in front.

Watching on was Heerenveen midfielder Magnus Wolff Eikrem, a graduate of the Manchester United academy and formerly of Solskjaer’s old employers, Molde. Eikrem is expected to be one of the new manager’s first signings at Cardiff, along with current Molde player - and another former United youngster - Mats Moller Daehli.
