Liverpool will look to add highly rated youngster Dele Alli to their books by signing the 17-year-old from MK Dons, according to The Metro.

Brendan Rodgers

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was spotted in the crowd during Dons’ 3-3 FA Cup draw at Wigan, and was thought to be impressed by Alli’s contribution. The player’s current manager, Karl Robinson, all but confirmed Liverpool’s interest in his post-match interview, saying: “I know Brendan quite well and we speak about different players all the time.

“There may have been another reason why he was at the game today, but you’ve seen Dele and he’s special. Yeah, he did some silly things but he’s 17 years of age. He did bits of magic too.

“You don’t see many 17-year-olds playing in an FA Cup third round against a very good Wigan side and not looking out of place.”

Alli, who has plyed his trade in Milton Keynes since signing for the club’s youth team, made his debut in November 2012.

Kop boss Rodgers has established a reputation for favouring building towards the future, and seems to see Alli as a player who fits the mould of his vision – a young English player with talent, ability and potential to boot. No suggestions about a potential transfer fee have yet been made public, but MK Dons will not be too likely to let one of their prized young players leave on the cheap.
