Hughes wants French stopper Dielna at Stoke but faces competition from West Ham
Olympiacos goalkeeper Claude Dielna has emerged as a transfer target for Premier League clubs West Ham and Stoke, according to Calcio Mercato.
Dielna, who is currently on loan at Ligue 1 side Ajaccio, is wanted at the Hammers and the Potters in an effort to shore up defensive frailties, as both sides struggle to get themselves into a comfortable Premier League position.
With the January transfer window open, West Ham are seeking to get themselves out of the relegation mire in which they currently find themselves, sitting only a point ahead of bottom club Sunderland, and three points away from any safe spots.
Mark Hughes' Stoke are looking somewhat more comfortable, but despite their standing in 12th they themselves are only five clear of the relegation slots, and find themselves without a win in three. They have certainly improved somewhat under Hughes, but with this being one of the tightest league tables in recent years any dip in form can easily see a club slide down the table – and Stoke want Dielna at the Britannia Stadium to safeguard against such a thing happening.
