Craig Brown believes Moyes can turn things around at Man United

Former Scotland boss Craig Brown has backed compatriot David Moyes to turn things around at Man United, according to The Independent.

David Moyes

Brown, himself a former manager in England having coached Preston North End between 2002 and 2004, has insisted the ex-Everton boss has what it takes to establish himself at the Red Devils, with Moyes having taken on the daunting task of replacing Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford – arguably the biggest and toughest job going in football last summer.

Man United’s shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Swansea at Old Trafford on Sunday meant back-to-back home defeats for the second time this season - and this has resulted in some corners of Old Trafford suggesting Moyes’ time at the club may already be winding down. Brown, however, believes that the Red Devils have got the right man at the helm – and points to Arsenal as a good case in point.

The 73-year-old says that Arsenal were a club considered to be in crisis at the start of the season, but their status as current league leaders shows that sides can turn around their fortunes. Indeed, Sir Alex Ferguson took almost four years to win his first trophy as Man United manager, and went on to become a man widely considered as the greatest British manager in history.

Speaking to Press Association Sport, Brown said: “I don't think anyone should be ringing the alarm bells. The best example is Arsenal at the start of the season, all the talk was about Arsene Wenger and the club being in crisis and look at them now - top of the league.

“All it needs is a couple of months of good results and all this will be forgotten and David Moyes will do that - there is no doubt in my mind. Alex [Ferguson] didn't go into Manchester United and wave a magic wand and make it okay and although David is in a slightly different situation it is similar in some ways.

“Replacing the best in the business was always going to be difficult but David Moyes is a strong character and an intelligent guy and I know he is respected by the players. People can be disappointed by recent results but they should accept that he is an accomplished manager and be certain the team can recover.”

Sounds like a sequel to Patriot Games! If you believe that rubbish then please replace Woody at Man U with a nobody off the street since Man U believes that Dudsy Moyes with no success against his name can take Man U forward! What a load of rubbish. I reckon the who crew at Man U probably got a major prozac sponsor that's made then all fcked up! Dudsy has been given enough time to dissolve everything that was created before he arrived, including belief in ageing players that they can still 'kick ass'! Please sack Moyes before the transer window closes so we can at least salvage something this season, even if its just our pride. Make us love football again cause even Fabio started to play like a non league snotty skank!
