Juventus to make summer move for Tottenham's Lamela
Serie A champions Juventus will make an approach for out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur forward Erik Lamela, the Daily Mail has reported, but not until the summer transfer window.
Inter had been linked with an attempt to take the former Roma player on loan for the rest of the season but Spurs are said to have made clear they will not allow Lamela to leave on a temporary basis. For his part, Lamela is understood to be concerned that another half-season on the sidelines at White Hart Lane will cost him his place in the Argentina side.
Members of the Juventus hierarchy, including sporting director Fabio Paratici, are said to be admirers of Lamela, who caught the eye with his performances in scoring 15 times for Roma last season. But the Turin club are not seeking a player in Lamela’s position this month and with Tottenham hoping to recoup a large part of their £30m outlay, any move for Lamela would be delayed until the summer.
Lamela has made only three Premier League starts for Tottenham Hotspur this season, with a further six substitute appearances, and no goals. His only goal has come in the Europa League, where he has made five starts, as part of a total of 17 games played for the club.
