Man Utd make £20m bid for Juventus midfielder Marchisio
Manchester United have began their attempts to bring a midfielder to Old Trafford during the January transfer window by making an offer of £20m to Juventus for midfielder Claudio Marchisio, according to the Daily Express.
Manager David Moyes has returned to his search for a midfielder after missing out on several targets over the summer including Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrera and only managed to sign Marouane Fellaini from his former club, Everton. As a result, Man Utd have struggled this season and lie seventh in the Premier League.
Marchisio, who has also been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool recently, is reportedly surplus to requirements at the Serie A leaders, with Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal seen as the midfield of the future by the Juventus hierarchy.
However, despite the lack of first team action he is set to gain ahead of the World Cup, Marchisio is keen to stay in Turin, where he has spent his whole career so far. During that time, the 27-year-old has scored 28 goals in 231 games, and has earned 42 caps for Italy, including the final of Euro 2012.
