Agger ignores Liverpool exit rumours
Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has insisted that he is paying little attention to speculation that he could leave the Anfield club in the coming months, Sky Sports has reported.
Rumours have continued to suggest that Agger’s days at Liverpool could be numbered, with Arsenal and Napoli among the clubs linked. The Reds currently have several options in central defence, with Martin Skrtel - also linked with Napoli, Mamadou Sakho, Kolo Toure and Tiago Ilori all available to Brendan Rodgers.
But Agger, who has been at Liverpool for eight years since joining from Brondby in January 2006, told Danish publication Jyllands-Posten that he is ignoring the speculation. He said: "I'm not thinking about moving at the moment, not at all. I've only seen what the papers say and I can't really do anything about it. There is no reason to believe these rumours."
After four seasons away from the Champions League, Liverpool are strongly positioned to make the top four of the Premier League and thus qualify for the competition. "There is a much different atmosphere in the dressing room’, Agger continued.
"It's like we truly believe that we are going to win and that is not something that we have done in the last couple of years.
"We are winning games, playing some great football and scoring a lot of goals. We've proven that we can challenge and then we have a guy up front (Luis Suarez) who scores goals from time to time."
