Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is set to give the club’s striking crisis a boost after recovering from his injury much sooner than expected, reports the

The Danish forward looked set to be out for a month after injuring his ankle against Cardiff City on New Year’s Day, but now looks ready to face Fulham on 18th January.

His quick recovery means Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may now ditch any transfer plans for a new striker in the window.

With fellow frontmen Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott on the injury list, Wenger is likely to look towards Bendtner to lead the line for the North London side in the coming weeks.

Bendtner had been out of favour for a while at the Emirates, but having scored twice this season, has become more of a regular.

The 25-year-old looked like his time was up at Arsenal having been regularly linked a move away from London in the summer.

He is in his eighth season with the Premier League leaders, a time which has included loan spells with Birmingham City, Sunderland and more recently Italian giants Juventus.
