Tottenham vs Crystal Palace - Premier League preview and team news

By Stephen Donovan

Friday 10 January 2014

Tottenham will be looking to pick up their third consecutive Premier League victory on Saturday as relegation threatened Crystal Palace visit White Hart Lane.

Tim Sherwood suffered defeat in his first North London derby in charge of Tottenham, and although his team had a great deal of possession in the FA Cup tie, they rarely tested home goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. Their Premier League run under Sherwood though is more encouraging, and back at home, where they dismantled Stoke City at the end of December, they will be expecting to collect all three points.

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis, like Sherwood, will be happy with the start he has made in the Premier League. However, the Welshman will have been frustrated by their failure to convert chances in the New Year’s Day draw with Norwich City, a result which saw them slip back into the bottom three. Since then, they have responded well, moving through to the FA Cup fourth round at West Bromwich Albion’s expense.

Younes Kaboul, Jan Vertonghen and Paulinho are all out for Tottenham, but they do hope the likes of Roberto Soldado, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Erik Lamela and Kyle Naughton will be available after injury.

Long-term absentees Glenn Murray and Jack Hunt are still out for Crystal Palace, as well as Adlene Guedioura and Jerome Thomas.
