Hull set to sign Everton’s Jelavic after fee agreed

Saturday 11 January 2014

Hull City have agreed a fee with Everton for striker Nikica Jelavic, and the Tigers will now negotiate personal terms with the 28-year-old, according to BBC Sport.

Nikica Jelavic

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has previously confirmed that he would be willing to allow Jelavic to leave the club if they were offered a reasonable price, with the Croatian looking to gain more playing time ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

Jelavic joined Everton in January 2012, and made a wonderful start to his life on Merseyside, scoring nine goals in 13 appearances. However, he has found things difficult since, only scoring twice in the whole of 2013, and this season he has lost his place to Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku.

Hull will be hoping that Jelavic can rediscover his best scoring form should the move to the KC Stadium go through, as Steve Bruce’s side have struggled to score goals in the Premier League this season, despite their current top half standing.

The Hull boss has been looking for a new striker since the transfer window opened on New Year’s Day, with long-term target Shane Long the subject of intense speculation, but Jelavic now looks to be the man tasked with increasing the newly promoted side’s goal tally.
