Tottenham Head Coach Tim Sherwood has said that the club have no plans to sign a replacement striker, after it was confirmed that Jermain Defoe will leave the club at the end of February, writes the Daily Express.

After scoring 137 goals for the club in two separate spells, Defoe revealed that he will leave the club for MLS side Toronto for £8m, which will leave the rejuvenated Emmanuel Adebayor and summer signing Roberto Soldado as Tottenham’s only two recognised strikers.

Soldado’s arrival has meant that Defoe has been out-of-favour for much of this season, but he has continued to score goals in the Capital One Cup and the Europa League. The England international has made just two Premier League starts all season.

However, Sherwood believes that the North Londoners can cope without making in January acquisitions in attack. He said: "We’re always looking, but it’s nothing that I think is pressing.

"We have [Roberto] Soldado and [Emmanuel] Adebayor - who is in form at the moment - and Nacar Chadli and Eric Lamela who can play in attack. We’ve got a lot of goalscoring options.

"Gylfi Sigurdsson, we know he has an eye for a goal. We’ve got enough goals from around different positions around the squad."
