Mourinho praises Hazard after Chelsea win
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has hailed winger Eden Hazard, after his performance in Saturday’s 2-0 win away to Hull City in the Premier League, writes Sky Sports.
After a reasonably disjointed first half in which both sides had chances to score, Hazard broke the deadlock in the 57th minute as he cut inside and beat Hull defender Alex Bruce before firing a low shot past goalkeeper Allan McGregor to cap an impressive performance.
Fernando Torres added a second in the closing stages, but Hazard was the player singled out for praise by Mourinho after scoring his 10th goal of the campaign. The Blues’ boss said: "The club made a big investment on him...to bring a player from France and pay the amount Chelsea did is because Chelsea trusted the player a lot.
"But he is not a talented kid any more. He is now more than that. He is a player who feels and accepts the responsibility, feels and accepts that a team player is more than a talented player and he has done it without losing his fantastic ability and fantastic talent. The kid is in a very good moment of his career."
The result saw Chelsea return to the top of the Premier League table at least temporarily, but Mourinho is not getting carried away. He added: "Do we like to be leaders? Yes, we like, but maybe tomorrow we are second and maybe Monday we are third. The important thing is that we all know we are going in the right direction."
