Chelsea manager Mourinho denies interest in any more strikers
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated that his club have no intention of signing a striker in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.
The Blues have been linked with a number of players but Mourinho insists that buying a striker is not in his concerns, preferring to keep faith with Fernando Torres.
"Fernando is calm. He knows we are not going into the market now," said Mourinho. “In the summer, normally a club like Chelsea is always trying to improve and get new players but he knows that we like him and support him and he knows there is no problem.
Chelsea have been criticised for their strikers' inability to score goals so far this season but the Portuguese boss is content with his goal scoring options as it stands.
"Everyone needs strikers to score goals; the strikers are the goalscorers,” added Mourinho. "If you have players in other positions who can score an important number of goals - better. If you have a Frank Lampard - better. If you have Eden Hazard - better. But the strikers are the ones that normally score the goals."
The London side have also faced much speculation concerning the future of Juan Mata who has made just 13 appearances for the club this season.
However Mourinho has said that Chelsea’s two time player of the year will not be sold and he is very much in his plans for this season.
