Man United coach Neville spotted taking a look at Ñíguez
Manchester United coach Phil Neville has been spotted on a scouting trip for Spain Under-21 international Saúl Ñíguez, according to The Telegraph.
The Red Devils are eyeing up a potential addition to their midfield and Ñíguez received the visit from Neville when his side Rayo Vallecano took on Getafe on Sunday.
Antonio Sanz, head of communication for Bahia Internacional, the company which represents Ñíguez, has stated that no club has made official contact regarding a transfer as of yet.
“Atlético are a selling club. They have sold Fernando Torres, Sergio Agüero, and David de Gea. Another matter is whether a club is willing to come in and make an offer,” said Sanz.
The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Rayo from Atlético Madrid has also been the subject of scouting trips by Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea.
The young Spaniard made nine appearances, including two starts for Atlético last season but it is at Rayo where he has impressed as he started every game when he has been available.
Ñíguez is already an Under-19 European Champion and now a regular fixture in the Spanish Under-21 side’s midfield.
Whilst in Spain Neville reportedly spoke to other scouts about the availability of several other La Liga midfielders as well as Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao.
