Liverpool boss Rodgers prepares £9m move for PSV star Wijnaldum
Liverpool look set to make a bid for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to The Metro.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield and Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is close to submitting a £9m bid for the player.
Wijnaldum gained notice when he became Feyenoord’s youngest ever player in April 2007 when aged 16 years and 148 days, before he made the switch to PSV in 2011.
The Dutchman has missed much of this season with a back problem but has recently returned to add four goals for his team.
Despite his injuries his technical skills have seen him compared to fellow Dutchman Rafael van der Vaart, and he has already won three international caps for Holland as well as scoring on his debut.
The young playmaker was previously linked with a move to Arsenal last summer, however turned down the London club to stay in the Eredivisie.
Despite his age, Wijnaldum is already captain of his team and important part of the midfield, but with his side struggling in seventh place, a switch to Liverpool might be in his near future.
