Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that his side have all the necessary fighting spirit this season to win their first Premier League title in 10 years, BBC Sport has reported.

On Monday evening, Wenger witnessed his side return to the top of the table by winning 2-1 away to Aston Villa, thanks to a quick-fire first half double from Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud. Although Christian Benteke pulled one back for the hosts late on, Arsenal were able to see the game out and climb back above Chelsea and Manchester City.

After the game, Wenger gave his clearest indication yet that he believes the Gunners are able to win the league. "It is a big win for us because the first half was about playing our game with passing and control, and the second was more about fighting. It was about fighting and our defenders kept us in the game,"said the Frenchman.

"It was an anxious finish and we had to fight right to the end and we were committed to every ball. We had to have a strong response because everyone was looking at us to see if we would drop points after everyone else had won over the weekend. You are under a bit more pressure when you play last because you know you are not allowed to drop any points. The only way you can give an answer to that is to win the games and we have here."

Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Saturday, when they take on struggling Fulham at the Emirates Stadium.
