Man Utd planning big-money bids for Juventus duo
Manchester United manager David Moyes has met with Juventus’ chief transfer negotiator, as he attempts to sign midfield duo Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal from the Serie A leaders, according to the Daily Mail.
Moyes met Beppe Marotta after attending Juventus’ previous game, a 4-1 victory away to Cagliari. However, by the end of the meeting, the Scot was forced to accept that it would be difficult to tempt Pogba back to Old Trafford, and that he would be unlikely to be able to sign Vidal until the summer.
Pogba was allowed to leave Man Utd by Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer of 2012, and he has since excelled for Juventus, scoring 11 goals in 63 appearances. His contract does not expire until 2016, but Man Utd are hopeful of re-signing the Frenchman, while Paris St. Germain are also interested.
Marotta, on the other hand, insists that he will do all he can to keep Pogba in Turin. He said: ‘From our point of view, we do not want to sell Pogba and, so far, we have closed the door to any possible buyer.’
Vidal has scored 35 goals in 106 Juventus outings since joining the club from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2011. He is also high on Moyes’ wish list, with the Scot looking to sign in midfielder in the near future.
