Wednesday 15 January 2014

Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic is set to make a return to action in the Premier League next week, according to Sky Sports.

Stevan Jovetic

The 24-year-old has played just five times for the Blues since a £22m move from Fiorentina in 2013. Speaking about the possible returns of Jovetic and Jack Rodwell, manager Manuel Pellegrini said: "Not this week. But next week him and Rodwell will be fit."

The Montenegro international has made just one league start and has not featured for his team since October. Jovetic’s lack of playing time has lead to speculation over a possible move away from the Etihad Stadium but Pellegrini has remained in defence of his player over his absence.

The Chilean boss claimed that his player has been suffering with injuries although the actual injury remains unspecified.

With Sergio Aguero soon returning to the attacking line-up from injury, Jovetic will be hoping to make it back into the side to add to the current goal scoring tally of 22 goals in eight matches.
