Blackpool midfielder Ince set to complete Monaco move
Blackpool midfielder Tom Ince looks set to complete a transfer to French outfit Monaco, according to The Daily Mail.
Ince was due to meet with Monaco representatives at a meeting in London on Thursday, and with the in-demand midfielder agreeing to meet it would appear that he is open to a move away from the club managed by his father, former England international Paul Ince, after being linked with a host of other clubs in recent transfer windows.
He had initially been reluctant to leave due to family commitments, but with the chase for his services reportedly extending to the Premier League’s top clubs it appeared to be only a matter of time before he could be tempted away – but, in a surprise move, it is the Frenchmen who appear to have won the race.
Ince’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he has been free to discuss a summer move with clubs from the continent since the new year, and AC Milan and Ajax are also thought to retain an interest in the 21-year-old. Swansea and Tottenham had been reportedly set to offer Ince a Premier League chance, but mega-rich Monaco’s plan for challenging PSG for domination in France appears to have swayed the former Liverpool youngster.
Ince’s age and contract status mean the Tangerines could be due only around £155k in compensation should the Monaco deal go ahead, but that is clearly a situation Ince Sr. is happy with, as he is believed to have driven his son to the London meeting himself.
