Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has delighted fans by declaring he would rather retire than play for rivals Tottenham, according to The Independent.

The revelation came about when the German international began answering fan’s questions on social networking site Twitter.

When one fan asked: “If you had a choice, would you rather play for Tottenham or retire?” the Arsenal man replied with “retire” - highlighting his commitment to the Gunners.

The striker’s quick reply came within five minutes and was soon seen and retweeted by other users over 8,500 times.

The 28-year-old joined the Londoners in 2012 for a fee of £10.5 million after spending much of his career in the Bundesliga with successful spells at FC Koln and Bayern Munich.

The German, who already has over 100 caps for his national side, is quickly becoming a fan favourite with Arsenal and will be hoping to add to his goal tally of three in four games so far this season.

You not good enough to make the reserves at Spurs anyway,so retirement should be your only option

Easy to answer, because Spurs do not want him. If you ask sam allardyce he want to manage Spurs then he say never because Tottenham don't need him.

What a coincidence. I'd rather he retired than played for Spurs as well.
