Hull complete £6.5m capture of Everton striker Jelavic
Hull City have completed the signing of striker Nikica Jelavic from Everton for an undisclosed fee, according to Sky Sports.
The three-and-a-half-year deal is believed to be worth £6.5m with an added £1m if the striker and his new club avoid relegation.
"As soon as the manager called me, I realised straight away that he was really interested in signing me and that it is a great opportunity for me to come here," said Jelavic.
"It is a good club, and we have a good squad. We talked a little bit, but it didn't take long to realise that it was right for me.”
The transfer of Jelvaic could break the Tiger’s previous record setting acquisition when they signed Tom Huddlestone for £5.25 million from Tottenham last year.
The 28-year-old signed for Everton for £5.5 million in January 2012 and quickly made an impact by scoring on his debut before going on to grab 11 goals in 16 games in his first Premier League season.
This season has been a different story for the Croatian as chances have been difficult to come by under manager Roberto Martinez.
As a result of the boss favouring loan signing Romelu Lukaku as the first-team striker, Jelavic has been allowed to leave Goodison Park to pursue his World Cup ambitions.
