Wenger close to signing Arsenal contract extension
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that he may be close to signing a contract extension with the club, according to the Guardian.
During pre-season the Frenchman stated that he needed to decide whether staying with the club was the right thing to do in terms of looking forward.
“There is a point where you have to decide and there is a point where you have to make your decision public,” said Wenger. “You can take of that sentence the way you want it,” he added.
The 64-year-old also confirmed that he will be talking to players about renewing contracts and attracting new talent to the club which suggests he will be remaining with the London side.
Wenger’s current deal with the Gunners expires at the end of the season and talks have been going on to try and sort out the long-term future of the manager.
Now in his 18th season with Arsenal, Wenger is still looking to add new faces to his squad in the January transfer window.
“It will not be very busy,” he predicted. “The transfer market in January is a low key transfer market, there is very reduced activity, there will be some of course, but in the last three days as always.”
