Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed he is confident that he has the backing of owner Vincent Tan in the transfer market, according to BBC Sport.

Since succeeding Malky Mackay earlier this month, the Norwegian has already claimed the signatures of Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Moller Daehli.

"He [Tan] trusts me to make the football decisions,” said Solskjaer.

"Of course, short-term now it's important that we stay in the Premier League. But then again he's reassured me that we are looking to strengthen if the right people are available.”

The former Molde coach was named as Mackay’s replacement on January 2 but has since seen the side drop into the relegation zone.

The 40-year-old is still confident of bringing more signings to the club, enquiring about former Manchester United starlet Mame Diouf and had an earlier bid for the player turned down.

Solskjaer has publicly backed his new owner and believes he wants his business to succeed.

"It's not like 'you've got X-amount of money'. It's my job now to find value for money and the put it to him and he's been very open to discussion,” added Solskjaer.
