Tottenham have to finish fourth, says Sherwood
Tim Sherwood has said Tottenham Hotspur must finish fourth this season or he could be sacked by Daniel Levy, according to ESPN.
Sherwood replaced Andre Villas-Boas in December and agreed an 18-month contract at White Hart Lane, but feels his job could be in danger without Champions League qualification.
It was put to Sherwood that he has made a successful start as the club’s Head Coach and while he admitted he is content with things so far, he also believes he has to do better.
“It's been good. We know there are going to be tougher tests ahead, but it's been a good start for me,” Sherwood said.
“If the season were to end tomorrow I don't think the [Levy] would be too happy because we are fifth.
“The final league position has to meet the expectation of the club otherwise it's 'goodbye Charlie'.
“The club needs to finish in fourth place, we want to finish in fourth place. Anything other than that will be a disappointment but realistically we should be in amongst it.”
Tottenham are level on points with Liverpool but behind on goal difference - the Reds on plus 25, Spurs on plus three - while Everton trail both clubs by two points having played a game less.
