Next six games crucial for Swansea, says Laudrup

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has said that his side’s next six games will be crucial in his side’s season after experiencing a disappointing run of form, writes the club’s official website.

The Welsh club have failed to win in the Premier League since a 3-0 victory over Newcastle United in early December, and on Sunday they were beaten at home by Tottenham, thanks to a double from Emmanuel Adebayor and Chico Flores’ unfortunate own goal. Wilfried Bony’s strike was scant consolation.

This result leaves Swansea just three points clear of the bottom three, and their next three Premier League games are against struggling trio Fulham, West Ham United and Cardiff City, a run which follows an FA Cup tie away to Birmingham City.

And Laudrup admits that those games will be crucial. He said: “We don’t need much to turn things round. If we were playing poor all the time or if players are worried about having the ball, it would be a much more difficult job.

“The only ones who can change this is ourselves and by winning games. We won at Old Trafford, but it wasn’t in this competition. There are a lot of other teams in our situation, at least with the points.

“From tomorrow, there will be six points separating 10th position to 20th, and in the next six games, we play five direct opponents. The next six games will decide whether we suffer until the end of the season. The next four, especially, are key games. If we win the next couple of games, it can all change and it will give the whole team confidence.’
