Sunderland star Johnson: "No magic behind recent form improvement"
Sunderland star Adam Johnson has insisted that there has been no magic behind his spectacular recent displays, and puts his recent performances down to a fluctuation in form, reports The Chronicle.
Johnson has been in sparkling form during Sunderland’s recent games, having helped the club to a 2-1 Capital One Cup semi-final lead over Man United, before smashing a hat-trick at Fulham in the Premier League the following week.
He then scored Sunderland’s equaliser at home to Southampton on Saturday, meaning he has been directly involved in nine of Sunderland’s last 11 goals across all competitions.
Suggestions have been made that the former Man City man could finally be ready for an England recall, and with the World Cup in Brazil just around the corner, the timing of such suggestions could not have been better.
The 26-year-old said: “I’m on a nice run of form and I’m delighted with how it’s going. I just want to keep getting my head down, working hard and keep helping us to get points.
“People go through bad spells in their career and good spells. I haven’t changed anything at all. Nothing that I’ve been doing in training or anything.
“You’ve just got to keep working hard - you don’t turn into a bad player over six months or a year.
“I’ve come back into form and I’m delighted with that.”
