Tottenham demands scuppering Capoue move to Napoli
Wednesday 22 January 2014
The agent of Etienne Capoue has criticised the player’s current club, Tottenham Hotspur, for making demands that are threatening to derail his move to Napoli, ESPN has reported.
Capoue only moved to White Hart Lane in the summer, leaving Toulouse for a fee said to be around £9m, but has struggled to win a regular place in the side.
The Coach who signed the France international, Andre Villas-Boas, was replaced by Tim Sherwood last month and the injury-hit Capoue has made only eight appearances since August.
Napoli have been active already in the transfer market and were keen to sign Capoue but Spurs’ reported fee, £12m, has ended the Italians’ interest.
Marta Fischer, Capoue’s agent, told Italian radio: “The problem's not the player, nor Napoli. Tottenham want a lot of money and what they are asking for is crazy.
“It’s still only [mid-January] so Forza Napoli…but I can’t say too much.”
Capoue was part of a busy summer at the Lane, when the likes of Roberto Soldado, Vlad Chiriches, Paulinho and Erik Lamela also moved to the club.
