Redknapp wants Rhodes for QPR but at lower price
Wednesday 22 January 2014
QPR manager Harry Redknapp has revealed his admiration for Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes, but admits the current asking price is too high, West London Sport has reported.
Redknapp is keen to bring in a forward in this window, having relied heavily on Charlie Austin, who is Rangers’ top scorer with 14 goals.
But with his side only scoring 31 times in the league, Redknapp has targeted Rhodes as an ideal candidate to lead the front line for the Hoops.
However, the current asking price is set at £8m by Blackburn and Redknapp admits it’s highly unlikely the move will happen if the price isn’t lowered.
He said: “It’s too expensive. He’s a good player but I don’t think they’ll lower the price.
“They want their money back - they want their £8m or £9m for him. Every week he scores. He’s amazing.”
Rhodes has scored 16 goals this season, helping his side to eighth in the league, just four points from a play-off position.
The 23-year-old signed for Rovers in 2012 from Huddersfield for a fee of £8m and has scored 43 goals in 69 appearances.
He had a brief spell in London when on loan at Brentford during 2009, netting seven goals in 14 appearances.
